Funny, I’ve been called a killer when I’m dealing - along with a variety of other names - but for the first time in my life, I actually thought I was going to kill someone. No, it’s not even close to what you might be thinking. No rage, no premeditated stuff, just simple death. I was cruising down Tropicana in the Silver Steed, 45-50 MPH, in the inside lane of three lanes. The light changed to yellow about 30 yards in front of me. No…there’s no way to stop and I wasn’t even close to a red light and the speed limit is 45 mph. (more…)

That’s exactly where I am. I’ve concentrated on ‘being’ the wine, and I am. I’m an aromatically, gorgeous, deep red color right now and it’s quite toasty. Hey, I did go in to work tonight. I did sign up to play. I was on ‘hold’ for the first half hour and then out to play. Play I did. I only waited for an hour to win my first pot and I’m grateful that it was only an hour. But then I just had this little intermittent run of good cards that made big hands and I stacked up chips. I was in a $4-8H game. (more…)

I can’t help my fascination with the destruction of everything that’s going on in and around Bellagio’s Employee Parking Lot - the future home of CityCenter. It’s hard to try and describe what it’s really going to be like when it’s finished - especially at a poker table where people are curious and they all think it’s going to be a huge casino. Umnhhh! My sis, Vickie, is now a long haul truck driver! What? That little tiny chick is cruising down the highway in a big semi? Monte (her sweetie) and Vick hit Vegas on Friday evening, on a long haul trip, they parked at the big truck parking at NV Palace and we had a two hour visit for food and hanging out. She saw my new digs - I saw hers. The kids in the truck behind them are my son Darian, Chad (Vickie’s son) and Eric (Vickie’s grandson)…all those kids live here in Vegas and they showed for the meal and visit. I caught Vick with her mouth open but she didn’t have a cigarette in it. Can you believe it? This girl used to eat cigarettes…and SHE QUIT!!! Way to go sister! (more…)

I’m rambling. I have tried - at least 1,000 times - to make people understand that I write for myself. I write because I enjoy it; because it’s therapy; because 20 years from now I’d like to read back over what I wrote and go “WOW!” I wrote that? Where did I find that in my thoughts? Or to have it swing me right back into a time and place that music has a tendency to do. I liken music as to a time machine - all you have to do is hear a song and it drags you back to the clothes you were wearing, who you were with, the smell of the atmosphere, the heat or lack of, your inner yearnings, and exactly how you felt at that time.
