From time to time I run into a situation that makes me wonder where I started with someone - or how I came across in my contact with them that threw everything into a disarray of irritation and ugly confrontation. I very seldom ever have conflict with anyone - especially someone I just met - yet it happened to me in the most friendly of environments. I was invited to Greg and Amy’s place over the weekend. We were going to work with Nick and Andy in low stakes poker - they were going to deal to us - we were going to play a variety of games because they were hired to deal the WSOP and needed the experience. I’d met Nick before - back in the old days when I hosted a game on Saturday night - Tim and Nick had been to the house to learn to deal. But Andy was a new face… (more…)

I have a little ’siz’ going on in my brain right now. I’m not really barking, just sharing some events that make me wonder if these people really think…or listen. I’m thinking that if I didn’t know me, and I took a seat in my game, I would be able to tell just by the way I greeted me, and asked if I wanted to post $X and be dealt in right now, or wait for the blind, etc., etc., etc., I would be able to tell that by the way me handled the game, the deck, the deal, and politely made my request for ‘Blinds, please,” and all of that, I would know that me wasn’t new and that me knew how to do my stuff. Therefore, I wouldn’t try to correct me before me did anything wrong, or even try to jump in and do anything unless I thought me was seriously going to make a mistake. I went to my son’s place on Friday afternoon, after lunch with Carole, and drifted through a sort of lazy day where I had no energy to do anything. At Darian and Sylvia’s house (son and daughter-in-law), I registered, on line, to play a $215 Satellite for a seat in the WSOP on Party. The tournament would start in approximately 45 minutes and I decided to play it there. (more…)

I just cruised wikipedia looking for info on Project City Center - mainly because I overheard a conversation on the employee shuttle where one guy was telling another that it was the largest civil engineering project in history - without government funding. The cranes - dozers - heavy equipment are now pounding 24 hours a day. When I hit the employee parking coming in from Las Vegas Blvd., off of Harmon, on Tuesday night, the shuttle had a completely new route to the back of Bellagio. I figure it takes a half hour to take the shuttle in to work now. I usually walk out at night anyway so now I’m walking in - that doesn’t take more than six to eight minutes. (more…)
