Lest old friends be forgotten

Friday, July 21st, 2006

The Pan Crew hasn’t been around to hang out on weekends for quite awhile.  Marie and Gary are still back in Iowa, somewhere, although recent phone calls have disclosed that they are doing a little traveling in a new- 20 something footer - Class C motor home that they bought recently.  They were ‘RVrs’ for nine years so it’s not a new experience for them, they just decided to sell their motor home a few years ago and switch back and forth between a home in Iowa and a home in Vegas.  Sure wish they were here to hang out now but they aren’t due back until October sometime.  (more…)

The Media Thingy - WSOP

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Some of this reverts back to yesterday’s post.  I saw Pauly in the hallway, he was talking to Kristin and April by now.  I took a picture of him, he looked like a retard when I snapped the shot.  I told him so.  He tried to argue but lost the argument when Suzanne Bourne appeared and said he did.  (Suzanne used to work at Bellagio with me).  It really was such a crappy picture of him that I won’t put it up…maybe I’ll give it to him next WPBT tourney.  This one of him is worth spreading across the internet: (more…)

Back to the Rio

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

There is so much going on at the Riot…er…ahhh…Rio that one has to wonder what the level of patience, peace of mind, and tolerance is for each player that’s involved in playing in a satellite or in an event - not that I’m undercutting the ring game player in this picture.  The magic of the WSOP has disappeared.  There is nothing orderly, organized, or sane about the platform of the biggest poker event of the year.  One has to wonder if there is any upper level management, and if there is, do they have any control over what is happening in levels of management below them.  I won’t even begin to go into some of the horror stories that are unfolding, if you’re curious, there are newsgroups and other places on the internet that will give you an idea of the mass mayhem.  One of the best places to check for daily reports and news is PokerNews. Lost in OZ

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Damned if I’m not already three weeks into the LOA and I’m nowhere.  All those plans, right down the tubes so far, as if I’d fallen into a ‘blush tank’, gotten pig drunk and couldn’t figure out daylight from dark and assholes from elbows.

PokerStars 150 seats guaranteed tourney

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Kee-rist! I won a $16 satellite, re-buys available, on PokerStars and invested $32 big bucks to take 20th place, that’s all I needed for a $370 buy-in to this baby. It starts in about an hour. Right now there are only 5,681 registered players with a prize pool of $1,990,800. Yippee! I’ll post on this later. I’m ‘PokerWorks’ there if anyone wants to sweat me. And if you’re going to sweat me, cross your fingers, toes, legs, arms, hair (all body hair - that includes pubic), and anything else you can think of, burn a candle, visualize, chant a mantra, that I win a seat…PLEASE!

Cruisin’ the WSOP on Friday

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

After a strange week of no rest and confused frustration, tamped down with irritation, double doses of ‘nothing is going as it should’, sprinkle daylight glare and heat over the top of everything, bake in the heart of molten lava for two months, then simmer while pouring in mega doses of ‘Kee-rist!’, served in tidal waves; I finally made it back to the Rio and Poker Land USA. Sleep!

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

Damn!  I finally have the picture thingey figured out - I think.  And I managed to sleep a whole seven hours straight.  Life is so much better right this moment.  The next step is to sip through my first cup of coffee.  It’s on the menu right now, just waiting for the Mr Coffee to finish doing its thing.  (more…)
