The Republican Net Nannys

I have complained, bitched, screamed, and in general had a fit for the last two years about the UIGEA and the fact that America is not the land of the free.  This post is not really any different than most of the previous ones except I want to share a picture.

The picture came in an email with the subject line “Why Women Should Vote” and it rings true of what I feel is happening today with our government.  We are being ramrodded into submission by an evil overlord.  Our wants are being ignored because a few people can’t handle a gambling addiction.  For those that can’t, I’m very sorry.  I’ve worked shoulder to shoulder with them in the poker industry in a casino but there is no legislation to keep people from entering a casino and using their credit/bank card or a line of credit, and yet the addiction is just as destructive there as it would ever be online.

The picture is self explanatory.

What the Republican Party is doing is criminal.  Online poker isn’t going to just go away.  Grow up you Net Nanny Bitches, get your pocket calculator out and figure out how much money you are costing the United States citizens by not legalizing it, taxing it, setting up license restrictions (and selling licenses), and protecting us from scammers/cheats.  Regulate it Nanny Bitches, don’t ban it.

Amen, sister. As I posted on Ken’s similar rant, Barack Obama, besides being a committed poker player, is a sensible man, not a moralistic prig. If he is elected, I think we can be certain that the legalization and reasonable taxation of online poker will soon follow. After all, he’s going to have to fund what he wants to do somehow!

Linda, if you get a minute please read the above linked article. The article appears in a paper not known for it’s sympathies with Republicans in general. You may be surprised by McCain’s links to the gambling industry.
